Kim Terrell – Animal Stories from Aquatic Mammals on Vimeo.
Kim Brewer Terrell has worked with marine mammals for over 35 years. Growing up on a farm in Crystal Springs, Mississippi, she has been an animal lover since birth and knew she wanted to work with animals since she was 5 years old. Kim graduated from Mississippi State University with a Bachelor’s degree in zoology and immediately began her marine mammal career at Marine Animal Productions/Marine Life Oceanarium based in Gulfport, MS. Over the next 15 years, she participated in research on wild dolphins, managed a few satellite seasonal facilities, and graduated from trainer to Assistant Curator, Director of Training and Director of Education. In 1996, Kim was recruited by Dolphin Encounters in The Bahamas to manage an interactive dolphin facility that was in the process of expanding. Over the next 20 years, this facility grew to be a leading contender in the marine mammal community and expanded to a sister facility in the Dominican Republic. Kim traveled to Cuba, Honduras, and Uruguay to train animals for the new facility. She has transported animals from all over the U.S. and Canada, Europe, South America and the Caribbean. In January 2016, Kim retired from full time work to live in Roatan, Honduras, but continues to consult as a marine mammal expert.
